Description

We have studied transport of light, in the visible range, in polycarbonate plates with the different concentrations of YAG:Ce3+ that is used for white LEDs. We used diffusion theory to describe the multiple light scattering and absorption. A narrow band light source was used to measure the total transmission in the spectral region where absorption and re-emission overlap. By combining measured transmission with the broadband transmission measurements, we extract full range of transport parameters for phosphor plates in the visible wavelength range using the diffusion theory. We propose a design rule for the solid-state lighting diffuser plates.
