How integrating Professional Learning Networks and Quantum Student Labs empowers teachers sustainably

Activity: Talk or presentationOral presentation

Description

Abstract: Quantum physics is often perceived as an abstract and scary topic, leaving many secondary school physics teachers feeling isolated and dependent on textbooks. This talk presents a successful Dutch model that combines a Professional Learning Network (PLN) for teachers with a Secondary School Student Quantum Outreach Lab (Qlab).

We will explore how this dual approach provides teachers with both the pedagogical content knowledge and the social safety they need to develop in their own way to become confident ambassadors of Quantum Physics. I will share research findings on how this collaboration transforms Quantum Physics from an abstract, distant topic into a vivid one for students and teachers. I look forward to discussing how these experiences compare with the Swedish context.
