Description
Over the past 15 years, a number of innovations in environmental policy have been undertaken in efforts to meet the challenge in industrial transformation. Among those are collaborative sector-based policy programs. The basic rationale of these programs is that a collaborative, consensus-based approach is expected to result in more effective and efficient solutions for setting and achieving challenging long-term environmental goals. Programs in different countries share some important characteristics as well as key differences. Evaluations show the importance of the integration of the new approaches with the rest of the environmental policy system. Programs that do not fit with and complement other elements of the environmental policy system will likely be less successful. This panel will explore the differences and similarities in the design and implementation of these new approaches in an international perspective.Period | 15 Oct 2003 |
