Paper-in-a-day pre-conference workshop

Activity: Talk or presentationInvited talk

Description

Early career researchers are the future’s research leaders. The grief field would benefit from cross-boarder collaborations and movement towards open science. To foster collaborations among researchers and to bring open science into practice a Paper in a Day Workshop will be offered. This workshop aims to stimulate international connections among early career researchers and the exchange of ideas by conducting a one-day pre-conference workshop. This workshop aims to result in an empirical paper to be submitted to an open-access international peer-reviewed journal.
MARBLES
During the workshop existing data will be used from the data-archive Measurements Archive of Reactions to Bereavement from Longitudinal European Studies (MARBLES) MARLBES is led by dr. Lonneke Lenferink (University of Twente/Utrecht/Groningen, NL) and prof. dr. Paul Boelen (Utrecht University & ARQ National Psychotrauma centre). This data-archive contains data on psychological complaints collected among over 5000 bereaved people. The data-archive alligns with the FAIR principles and is part of the Global Collaboration on Traumatic Stress that is supported by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) (for more details, see the following two links:

Paper in a Day editions
Paper in a Day workshop is initiated by dr. Eva Alisic (zie https://trauma-recovery.net/). During various psychotrauma conferences from the ISTSS and ESTSS, she hosted this workshop which resulted in scientific articles, conference presentations, and new research projects. Dr. Lonneke Lenferink hosted a Paper in a Day workshop during a psychotrauma conference from the ESTSS in 2019, which resulted in the following paper: https://doi.org/10.1080/20008198.2020.1717156.
The “recipe”
As the name suggests, Paper in a Day is intensively concentrated on one day, September 21; the day prior to the European Grief Conference. To ensure the success of the project, Paper in a Day involves activities before and after the conference. Before the workshop the candidates will be in touch to divide preparatory tasks (e.g., searching for literature, defining research questions, running analyses). The ideal group size appears to be 6 to 8 candidates (although an earlier workshop successfully included 11 participants). Paper in a Day is focused on early career researchers, including PhD-students or people who obtained their PhD less than 5 years ago.
