The Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-information Management (PGM) of the Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) performs research, education, and capacity development activities on spatial and temporal dynamics within complex urban regions and their hinterland, participatory and inclusive planning and decision making, as well as socio-spatial equity, climate change and disaster impacts, and sustainable development. This presentation summarizes the role of research software in responsible land administration, urban planning, disaster risk reduction, sustainable infrastructure, collaborative planning, and human-environment interactions.
