WHITE LEDS CAN BE MORE POWERFUL AND 'GREENER' RUBICON SCHOLARSHIP FOR UT RESEARCHER MARYNA MERETSKA

White LEDs have resulted in a drastic energy saving in our lighting. Yet it can still be considerably cheaper and more sustainable, according to Maryna Meretska of the University of Twente. It wants to develop LEDs that give more light, while less than half the amount of phosphorus is required for their production. To work out her ideas for this 'M-white LED', she gets the chance to do two years of research at Harvard University, thanks to a Rubicon subsidy from NWO.
