Description
In this study, the historic flood event of the Rhine river was reconstructed with the use of a hydraulic model. Therefore, the 1800 bathymetry as well as land use was reconstructed based on old maps. A 1D-2D coupled model was set-up which was used to create training data to set up an Artificial Neural Network. Measured water levels at Pannerden and Nijmegen were used to predict corresponding maximum discharge at Lobith.
