My PhD project, within the NGF NXTGEN HIGHTECH project, will study laser-induced forming of polymer structures for positioning and alignment of optical elements, such as micro mirrors, allowing hybrid integration in photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The objective is to apply laser forming to induce controlled modifications in the device structure, thereby altering the direction of a light beam intended for coupling and reflection from a mirror surface. The materials to be investigated include two-photon-polymerized 3D-printed polymers (IP-S) and thermoplastic polymers provided by the project partner, Morphotonics B.V. The laser forming process aims to assist in alignment of the to-be-coupled light beam reflecting from this micro mirror
