My ambition is to understand how mission-oriented (sustainability) collaboration and technological innovation comes about and develop in so called innovation ecosystems. The different (public and private) actors involved must in these ecosystems will have to make sense of the complexities, uncertainties and tensions of the future societies they are designing and developing technology for. I will work within a EU-funded innovation ecosystem that has set out the develop a new standard for secure, modular and sustainable datacentres. To develop relevant insights and facilitate the internal efforts and collaborations within the ecosystem closely and work with the partners involved, work through the complexities and tensions involved, facilitating collective sense making, design and exploration of possible and desirable sociotechnological developments.
My background as trained engineer and experience in interdisciplinary work as a consultant and project leader strongly shaped my interest in the subjects I am studying today.
In my teaching, I work with (future) engineering professionals to explore the “social and human” challenges involved in sustainability transitions. I am highly committed to my students learning and well-being. In my teaching I make use of simulations and reflective methods to make knowledge and skills tangible and fun. I am dedicated to role modelling and facilitating vulnerability in my classroom and learning alongside my students.
