Personal profile

Frank has joined the ITC in 2014 as an Assistant Professor for Cloud and Crowd geo-information processing. His main research interests are the opportunities and challenges of distributed collection, storage, processing and sharing of crowd-sourced and volunteered geographic information. Since 2009, he holds a PhD (Dr. sc. nat.) in Geographic Information Science from the University of Zurich. Previous work includes three years as a post-doctoral researcher at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission, as well as several years as a research assistant at the University of Zurich and Hamburg on several EU-funded projects on user-generated geographic content, and spatio-temporal data analysis and visualization in urban contexts.
