Personal profile

Jan Broenink has a PhD EE and MSc EE & biomedical degrees both from the University of Twente. He is Associate Professor of Embedded Control Systems at the Robotics and Mechatronics group of the faculty EEMCS at the University of Twente. From 2017 until 2021, he has been chairman of the Robotics and Mechatronics group, together with prof. Stefano Stramigioli.

Since July 2021 he is Programme Director of the MSc programme Robotics.

Research interests

Jan’s research interests are Cyber-Physical Systems, Systems Engineering, Robot Software Archirectures & Tools Development for this, Simulation, Co-Simulation, Parallel Software based on CSP. For that, he is interested in: model-driven design and meta-modeling of robot software architectures; designing software tools including (co)-simulation; concurrent and systems engineering.

Teaching

His teaching work is on Robot Software Design using Model-Driven approaches, Systems Engineering, and using the latter in methods for conducting and supervising MSc / BSc final projects.

He is programme director of MSc Robotics.
