I’m a Lecturer/Researcher at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Since graduating as a physical geographer from Utrecht University I’ve been working at the intersection of Social Science and Physical Spatial Planning, where stakeholder interests and land use conflicts are at play. My work related interests are in PGIS/PPGIS (Participatory Mapping and GIS), VGI (Volunteered Geographic Information) and Citizen Science and the role local spatial knowledge plays in the interaction between Policy-makers, Planners and Citizens.
My main expertise is related to PGIS/PPGIS (Participatory Mapping and GIS), VGI (Volunteered Geographic Information) and Citizen Science and the role local spatial knowledge plays in the interaction between Policy-makers, Planners and Citizens. Since 2009 I have applied this expertise for a large part in projects dealing with public water service provision in East Africa.
