Personal profile

I am a Full Professor of Transport Planning at the Department of Civil Engineering and Management, Faculty of Engineering Technology, University of Twente, the Netherlands. My research focuses on accessibility analysis and modeling, linkages between land-use, transport and mobility technologies (e.g. shared mobility), travel behavior research, transport policy evaluation and sustainable transport. In 2006 I received my PhD (cum laude) at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands, on accessibility appraisal of land-use and transport policy strategies. I am president of the Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research (NECTAR –
www.nectar-eu.eu) since 2014, member of editorial board of the Journal of Transport Geography, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the European Transport Research Review between 2017-2023.
