I am a Full Professor of Transport Planning at the Department of Civil Engineering and Management, Faculty of Engineering Technology, University of Twente, the Netherlands. I am the department portfolio holder of education. My research focuses on accessibility analysis and modeling, linkages between land-use, transport and mobility technologies (e.g. shared mobility), travel behavior research, transport policy evaluation and sustainable transport. In 2006 I received my PhD (cum laude) at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands, on accessibility appraisal of land-use and transport policy strategies. I am currently vice-chair of the Network of European Communications and Transport Activities Research (NECTAR – www.nectar-eu.eu), and served as chair in the period 2014-2024). I am member of editorial board of the Journal of Transport Geography, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the European Transport Research Review between 2017-2023.
