Dr. Mehmet Büyükdemircioğlu is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the Earth Observation Science (EOS) Department of the ITC, University of Twente. He is involved in the HEat Robustness in Relation To Aging Cities (HERITAGE) project, where he focuses on enriching 3D city models with energy-related information using earth observation data to improve the heat robustness of cities.
He received his MSc degree in Geomatics Engineering from Hacettepe University in 2018; and Ph.D. degree in 2023, respectively. During his PhD studies, he was awarded a 1-year scholarship from the Turkish Research Council (TÜBİTAK) to work as a visiting researcher at Technische Universität Berlin in the Methods of Geoinformation Science department. His PhD research focused on "Deep Learning-based Automatic Reconstruction of 3D City Models."
With a combined 10 years of practical and academic experience, he has expertise in the fields of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, GIS, and Geodata visualization. He has actively participated in various projects and his research interests include semantic 3D city models, 3D building reconstruction, and geo-visualization.
