Regis Nibaruta was born in Bujumbura, Burundi. He Received a MSc. degree in Electrical engineering (Power systems) from the Pan African University Institute of basic Sciences, Technology, and Innovation (Kenya) in 2019. He obtained his 2nd MSc. degree in Railway Engineering (Traction and Train Control) from the African Railway Center of Excellence, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 2021. He has had multiple hands-on trainings including Smart grid and mobile robotic fabrication and programing at AFRICA-ai-JAPAN Projects.
He is currently working towards his PhD on EV Battery Chargers at the University of Twente, within the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions ETUT Project. His main areas of research interest include Power converters, Non-Isolated DC, Multilevel Converters, Battery Chargers, Modulation Strategies etc.
