Drs. Richard Knippers studied human geography with cartography as main subject at the Utrecht University. He works at ITC since 1990. He executed a great variety of tasks in the fields of education, research and consulting. His current position is lecturer in the Department of Geo-information Processing.

In education he is specialized in the fields of geo-information technology and management, the application of geographical information systems, mapping and spatial referencing. He functioned as Director of Studies of the Diploma Course in Geo-informatics (GFM.4)

In research and consulting he worked on research projects, training courses and consulting projects related to Geo-information Science and Cartography in different countries e.g. The Netherlands, France, Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Egypt and Namibia
