1.7-kHz-linewidth distributed feedback laser in Al2O3:Er3+

    Abstract

    The realization and performance of a distributed feedback channel waveguide laser in erbium-doped aluminum oxide is reported. Output powers as high as 3 mW with a threshold of 2.2 mW and a slope efficiency of 41.3% versus absorbed pump power were achieved with a narrow emission linewidth of 1.7 kHz.
