    Abstract

    An 8at.%-doped thulium channel waveguide laser in a monoclinic potassium double tungstate delivered 1594 mW of output power at 1.84 µm and over 80% slope efficiency versus absorbed pump power, approaching the theoretical limit of 85.8%.
