Abstract

This paper presents a novel compact 3-port Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna system. The prototype consists of a CPW fed circular monopole antenna with identical ground plane structures, which act as microstrip antennas. The single antenna as well as the combination of three antenna elements produces 2:1 VSWR impedance bandwidth in the UWB frequency range (3.1GHz-10.6GHz) without using any isolating element. The coupling performance of MIMO antenna for different polarization cases are also analyzed and presented. The overall dimension of the antenna is 60 × 60 × 1.6 mm3when designed on FR4 substrate of dielectric constant of 4.4 and loss tangent 0.02
