Abstract
Airborne digital cameras, such as the ADS40 three-line scanner from LH Systems, make available high resolution digital image data without the necessity for AD-conversion. Besides this time benefit, other advantages of three-line scanner data compared to analogue frame images are high radiometric resolution, multi-spectral capacities and three stereo angles. These features may result in more reliable extraction of 2D and 3D information. Delft University of Technology last year began a research project aimed at analysing the capacity of three-line scanners for 2D and 3D mapping purposes. The author presents his experience of the 3D reconstruction possibilities for buildings from ADS40 data.
