Abstract
A computer program was developed that could advice on the choice of solvent and titrant for acid/base titrations in nonaqueous media. It is shown that the feasibility of a titration in a given solvent can be calculated from solvent properties and intrinsic acid/base properties of the sample components. A consistent set of properties for various solvents and a large number of acidic and basic compounds was calculated from literature data with the use of a genetic algorithm. Test results show that the system works well for titrations in various classes of solvents.
