Abstract
The digital transformation has increased organizations' ability to implement Smart Maintenance (SM) solutions to improve maintenance performance. These solutions involve exploiting digitalization technologies to enhance maintenance functionalities. However, companies must face additional costs to adopt these solutions. Furthermore, ensuring that an SM solution can improve value realization in the long term is not trivial. The implementation of SM solutions should then be properly justified from a strategic perspective. However, a methodology that supports such decisions while considering value realization has not yet been developed. This research aims to address this gap by developing a methodology that is grounded on the Asset Management (AM) principles to support value-based decision-making in Smart Maintenance. The result is a methodology that, when instantiated, will aid maintenance decision-makers in implementing SM solutions in a way that realizes value for the organization.
