    Abstract

Heterogeneous Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools, meaning CASE tools that support the conventional system development paradigm on the one hand and tools that support the object-oriented paradigm on the other hand, need to be integrated to support system development either in both system development paradigms, or to enable a change over from one system development paradigm to the other. Although standards and frameworks for tool integration are emerging, a structured method of approach to integrate tools in required. This paper proposes the CUBE approach, especially the creation of a technical link, to integrate heterogeneous CASE tools. It otulines the unique problems associated with heterogeneous workbench integration. Two modes are described that may be applied to realize the technical link between heterogeneous tool repositories.
