Abstract
Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have been increasingly used for disease modelling and drug screening. Recently, hPSCs also give rise to develop functional 3D human organoids which prove to possess closer function and physiology in vitro. However, stem cell technologies are complex, low-throughput and not highly reproducible. In addition, it remains a hassle to perform robust imaging and derive multiparameter phenotype analysis in a high-throughput manner. In this survey paper, we are going to review the latest development of high-throughput system applied in stem cell technology and the progress of AI techniques used in this field. We concluded that, in spite of numerous challenges encountered in large-scale high-throughput screening (HTS) and AI technology integration, utilizing stem cell technologies in HTS brings great potential for drug discovery, pre-clinical drug evaluation, personalized medicine and regenerative medicine.
