Abstract
The International Conference on Conceptual Modeling is the main international forum for discussing the state of the art, emerging issues, and future challenges in research and practice in conceptual modeling. Topics of interest span the entire spectrum of conceptual modeling, including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies, techniques for transforming conceptual models into effective implementations, and methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models.
ER 2023 was held at the Congress Center of the Instituto Superior Técnico, which is located in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal. In addition to its main program, the conference hosted several satellite events, including seven workshops. ER workshops are forums for exchanging emergent ideas on conceptual modeling. They provide opportunities for presenting initial and ongoing work and allow researchers and practitioners to interact and collaborate. This volume contains the proceedings of the seven workshops held in conjunction with ER 2023. The chairs and program committees of the workshops were responsible for reviewing and selecting the papers. Each paper was single-blindly reviewed by at least three members of the program committee of the workshop to which it was submitted. Out of 53 submissions overall, 28 full papers and 2 short papers were accepted for publication in these proceedings. Anna Bernasconi, Arif Canakoglu, Alberto García, and José Fabián Reyes Román organized the 4th International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling for Life Sciences (CMLS 2023).
