Abstract
The use of the fixed carbon-volatile matter (FC-VM) graph for quick calculations of proximate analysis data, as well as for simple presentation of coal classification is illustrated. From the position of the VM and FC values of a coal on the graph (on an ‘as received’ basis) it is possible to determine the approximate rank and class of the coal.
