    Abstract

This paper reports on the development of a system that automaticallyconstructs representations of the meaning of sentences usingrules of grammar and a dictionary of word meanings. The meaningsof words and sentences are expressed using an extension of knowledgegraphs, a semantic network formalism. Furthermore the system containsan algorithm that calculates an evaluation measure for alternative sentencegraphs of one sentence, making it possible to disambiguate themeaning of sentences on semantical grounds.
