Abstract
Information-based decision making in manufacturing relies on data form multiple sources. Due to an increasing number of data sources in a factory, the complexity of information systems is continuously rising. This leads to new challenges for production and IT departments. To encounter these challenges future-oriented architectures are required. Based on the use case of an energy management on shop floor level, a new architectural approach utilizing data virtualization is evaluated.
