The editors of this reader are all affiliated with the Department of Private Law at the University of Helsinki, Finland. In May 1999 this Department and the Finnish Association for Consumer Law co-organized the 7th World Conference on Consumer Law. The book reviewed here is a collection of contributions to this conference. The title of the volume accounts (almost) for the conference theme, "The Consumer in the Globalised Information Society." The title might have been "Consumer Law and Information Technology" because most contributors interpreted "Information Society" as information (and communication) technology. The editors have organized the 20 contributions ("chapters") into seven parts. The content of each chapter is clarified in a detailed Table of Articles. A List of Contributors with authors' names and affiliations is very explicit. Hereafter follows an overview of chapters and articles.
