Abstract

Here, we present a cartilage-on-chip platform comprising an innovative multi-modal actuation unit to subject chondrocyte-laden hydrogel to both compression and shear strain. The response of human chondrocytes to both healthy and pathophysiological mechanical stimulation is evaluated.
