Abstract
Evaporated CoxNi(1-x)/Pt multilayers can be used as a medium for magneto-optical recording. For all Co-Ni ratios we prepared, perpendicular magnetization can be obtained, depending on the multilayer-structure. The anisotropic energy decreased for increasing Ni-amount in the alloy. The Curie temperature is lower than for the Co/Pt multilayers. Unfortenately also the Hc and θk decrease, but R/W measurements have shown that the optimum write power of a Co-Ni/Pt multilayer is significantly lower than for a Co/Pt multilayer with comparable Hc and θk.
