Abstract

The present work has as main objective to present proposals of readjustments of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Onça, located in Belo Horizonte, in order to promote sustainable optimization. As methodology, an operational diagnosis of the treatment system was carried out through a visit to the STP facilities and the downsizing of the secondary treatment units of the station. From the operational diagnosis, taking advantage of the existing infrastructure in the STP, three modifications were proposed in the STP: use of biogas; incorporation of scum to the sludge generated by biological filters and the use of secondary sludge for agricultural purposes. Finally, it was concluded that these changes, in addition to making the STP more sustainable, from the perspective of circular economy, could bring significant financial returns the same
