    Abstract

The flow of mixtures of liquid and gas bubbles and dynamics of gas bubbles moving through liquid are addressed. Kinetic energy and added mass of hydrodynamically interacting gas bubbles in liquid are investigated and results compare well with those in the literature. The dynamics of pairs gas bubbles moving through liquid are studied. Experiments on a pair of air bubbles rising at moderate Reynolds number in water are described. The bubble trajectories were measured with high accuracy using multiple exposure photographic techniques and detailed conclusions are presented. Equations of motion for a pair of bubbles moving through a perfect liquid, the deflection of the bubble paths in an encounter and the collision cross section of two colliding bubbles are investigated.
