Abstract

This paper describes the development of an experimental research facility to assess the effectiveness of Phase Change Materials (PCM), that can be used for passive solar heating. Four test boxes are constructed representing the conventional and future Dutch building practices regarding insulation and glazing. In the future scenario materials to vover walls and floors in the test boxes will be partly filled with PCMs. In this paper the theoretical framework of thermal behaviour of PCMs in buildings, the realisation of the experimental set up and the design of the monitoring system will be explained.
