    Abstract

The study reported in this thesis is concerned with the granular dynamics of gas-solid two-phase flows. In granular dynamics simulations the Newtonian equations of motion are solved for each individual particle in the system while taking into account the mutual interaction between particles and between particles and walls. The gas-phase hydrodynamics is described by the volume averaged Navier-Stokes equations for twophase flow.
