Abstract

Jarmo Ratia is the CEO for the National Land Survey of Finland who attended the tenth conference of the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association in Trinidad and Tobago that was held from February 25-29, 2008. An interview with him is presented to discuss the GSDI mission, achievements as well as its future. Specific topics include the GSDI's concept, on how did it became globally, as to when it has become into being as well as its mission, its organizational structure, its related international bodies, its role in sustainable development, its key points for its success, the role of proper land administration, the role of SDI in disaster management, on how developing counties may join in, and its future focus of attention.
