Abstract

Polymer networks in rubber vulcanisates are commonly characterised by crosslink density and crosslink structure. These crosslink characteristics greatly influence the properties of vulcanised rubber compounds. Therefore, their reliable characterisation is essential. This study explores if Temperature Scanning Stress Relaxation (TSSR) can be used as a safer, more cost-effective and time-saving method to quantify polymer network density and to distinguish different types of sulphidic crosslinks in filled rubber compounds.
