Abstract
The research into adequate training for teachers to implement an electronic self-study module occurred in the period 1997 till 1999. The research took place at the Institute for Higher Professional Education 'Windesheim', located in Zwolle in the Netherlands. In this period, the institute intended to implement 'on the job' learning. Another aim was to support students to learn in collaboration with other students. Moreover, in the future students will be able to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in their professional practice. Therefore all faculties intended to change their curricula to emphasize cooperative learning processes and the use of ICT as a tool to reach this goal.
