Abstract
Designing man-machine systems within the scope of large scale project is a complicated matter. Usually attention is not given to the human factor until detailed engineering. Thus, it is limited to workstation design and some environmental factors. To get ergonomics accepted from an early phase of a project, there are in most cases two conditions which have to be met: 1. benefits of an investment in ergonomic analyses, consultation and realizing user participation has to be shown before hand 2. the ergonomics contribution must fit the project procedures.
