Abstract
Since modern systems are characterized with increasing complexity, many assets are designed with the support of the Building Information Modeling (BIM). Furthermore, RAM analysis (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) is utilized for the development of reliable assets. Many enterprises use both tools, although the tasks may not be coordinated and there is no well-established practice for how to share and use results across the two processes. In this context, the integration of BIM modeling and RAM analysis is investigated within this work. A bilateral communication between the two software tools is implemented and tested on a case study. A first proof of concept is developed within this paper, and authors hope that this work may impulse the building of an integrated environment, and its utilization in conjunction with design methodologies targeted to the development of reliable assets.
