Abstract
This is an evaluation of China's National Natural Research Foundation, conducted by a panel comprising international and Chinese experts. NSFC's design was originally based on that of the German national science foundation, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The report gives an impression of the way NSFC operates 25 years later.
