    Abstract

This special issue is dedicated to the more than symptomatic phenomenon of student projects on educational technology. NOVA Southeastern University at Lauderdale in Florida and Twente University in the Netherlands are two exemplars of the many training sites where educational specialists are brought up. In contrast to teacher training colleges, they confront the technological approach with the versatile field of human learning and growth. The engineering aspect is in the systematic design of solutions to complex educational dilemmas like distance learning, embedded learning in job settings, motivational and assessment issues.
