Abstract
De patiëntopname na hartchirurgie in Nederland kenmerkt zich door een kort verblijf op de IC, waarna de patiënt naar de verpleegafdeling komt. Er wordt gestart met fysiotherapie om het herstel te bevorderen, maar veel patiënten blijven in bed liggen en verliezen zo tot 5% spierkracht per dag. Dit artikel laat op basis van een prospectieve studie in het Thorax Centrum Twente een ‘best practice’ zien hoe patiënten succesvol te motiveren zijn om meer te bewegen.
