Abstract
This dissertation explores leadership behaviours that facilitate the adoption of lean and green practices in Indonesian logistics firms through three interrelated empirical studies. The first study examined four Indonesian logistics firms that were adopting lean and green practices, each at a different adoption stage. The second study, zoomed in on the nature of effective leaders in family-owned firms, given that they are the main players in the Indonesian logistics sector and a significant driver of the Indonesian economy. The third study explored the adoption of lean and green practices in multicultural settings, specifically in Japanese-Indonesian logistics firms where cross-cultural misunderstandings pose obstacles to lean and green practices. Collectively, findings of these studies enrich contemporary leadership theory and offers practical guidelines for improving the adoption of lean and green practices in Indonesian logistics firms.
