    Abstract

In order to predict and compare the behaviour of electric vehicle propulsion systems it is useful to have an accurate simulation program available. This program should be based bn a detailed load dependent mathematical model of EV drive trains. In depth discriptions of the characteristics of battery, DC motor and mechanical transmission are used in this model. Power flow through all parts of a drive line can accurately be calculated departing from a vehicle duty cycle, in which the speed versus time function is given. Comparisons with measurements show a very good agreement.
