Abstract

In this paper, an efficient model for the load shedding optimization problem is proposed. Since it is nonlinear, for simplicity the model is relaxed by using Lagrangian relaxation technique along with the use of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker theorem to obtain an optimal solution. To counter the nonlinearity, Newton Raphson method is applied as a solution technique. For case study, IESCO 8 bus system is implemented on the developed model and the previous models. Numerical results showed that our model has optimal results in comparison with other models.
