Metal doped hybrid silica membranes for separation

Abstract

The present study describes the e ect of di erent factors such as the type of dopants and the percentage of dopants on the stability and permeance of membranes. Di erent dopants such as zirconia, yttrium were used to produce organic-inorganic hybrid silica membranes. During the programme, zirconia doped BTESE derived membranes were successfully fabricated by sol-gel process and characterised. Three di erent zirconia concentration were carefully investigated in order to nd an optimal percentage to achieve better selectivity as well as single gas permeation. As a result, Zr-BTESE (0.20) membrane reports the best quality among the three zirconia doped BTESE derived membranes.
