    Abstract

    This volume contains the proceedings of the European Workshop on Milestones, Models and Mappings for Model-Driven Architecture (3M4MDA) held on 11 July 2006 in Bilbao, Spain, in conjunction with the European Conference on Model Driven Architecture - Foundations and Applications (ECMDA-FA 2006). The 3M4MDA 2006 workshop aims at helping the convergence of the research and practical application, by focusing on the milestones in the model-driven development process, the models to be used, and mappings to be established between these models. Many issues have risen from the practical application of the model-driven approach, most notably those that relate to the purpose and the characteristics of the system under design and that translate to requirements on milestones, models and mappings to be applied in the model-driven development process. These issues should be taken into account in the next generation of model-driven methods and modelling techniques.
