Abstract
This paper illustrate the most important theories underlying model-based diagnosis, and their relationships to medicine. It presents four papers which shed light on the current state of research in this field. These paper indicate that, on the one hand, modern techniques of model-based diagnosis have found their way to the minds of medical artificial intelligence researchers, while, on the other hand, the requirements of medical applications may produce useful additions to the basic theories.
